“We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.” – Buddha

We’ve lived a lot, that’s true. But how have we lived? Each thought created is the illustrator for the movie that is our life. You can let ideas run wild with a paintbrush of dark hues creating a canvas that looks like something you wouldn’t want to run into walking down a dark alley at night. OR you can create a work of heART with your internal dialogue.

Here’s the big secret that no one wants you to know (except us of course, that’s why we’re sharing it) YOU ARE THE AUTHOR OF YOUR STORY. Your ego is about to put its big ugly foot down and say, “no, some people can do that but it’s not us,” because that’s what your ego does; it challenges you. If you keep thinking that, then yes, THAT is your truth. “As long as you feed the beast, it shall live,” wrote Jen Sincero. If you draw the line and take your power back right now, then your life will begin to change for the better. The universe will begin to conspire to put together the things that you deserve because you are open to receiving joy.

Meditating on joy and gratitude is the key to creating new cognitive habits. It’s not the quick fix, but it’s a practice that will carry you throughout life. When chaos creeps in, and the ego rears its ugly head, you have the strength to stand tall like Xena the Warrior Princess (I’m not the only little girl who wanted to be her when she grew up, right?). Don’t give up. Keep focusing on the butterflies in your stomach and allow them to fight off the knots in your stomach. Dismiss the ego and cultivate limitless joy. You deserve it.
